What to Look for in Fishing Rain Gear

Waterproof rating

Waterproof ratings are given in millimeters and describe how much water pressure a fabric holds back before it leaks. Around 5,000mm handles light rain; 10,000mm covers most conditions; 15,000mm and up is built for heavy rain and storms. Our Pro All-Weather Rain Suit is rated 15,000mm.

Breathability

Breathability ratings (g/m² per 24 hours) describe how much sweat vapor can escape. Non-breathable rain gear keeps rain out but leaves you damp from the inside. Our rain gear is rated 10,000 g/m², which suits active fishing and long days on the water.

Taped seams

Every stitch is a hole. Fully taped seams cover each one from the inside so water cannot get through at the stress points. All WindRider rain gear has fully taped seams.

Construction details that matter on a boat

• Reinforced knees and seat — double-thickness fabric where rain gear wears out first
• YKK zippers with storm flaps — hold up to saltwater and repeated use, with a fabric barrier over the zipper
• Adjustable cuffs, waist and ankles plus a roll-away hood, so you can seal out weather or stow the hood when it clears
• Fleece-lined hand-warmer pockets and a cell phone pocket — 13 pockets on the Pro All-Weather set
• Reflective piping and logos for visibility in low light

Suit or separates?

The rain suit gives you a matched jacket and bibs in one purchase. The jacket and bibs are also sold separately if you want to mix sizes or wear the jacket on its own in light rain.
